About the Role

We are looking for an Operations and Human Resources Manager (Ops & HR Mgr) to support Ulula leadership in the execution of its strategy on a day-to-day basis and to support its vibrant multicultural workplace environment. 

The Ops & HR Mgr will be responsible for managing the administrative affairs of Ulula (as a remote entity currently), preparing internal company communication, policies and objectively implementing the same across Ulula. You will provide HR guidance and support through overseeing programs that cover several HR areas including workforce planning, talent management, employee onboarding, employee relations, performance management, terminations, training, and other employee engagement areas as required.  You will also drive specific company-wide projects as may be determined by Ulula leadership, working closely with internal and external parties.

What you’ll do

Company Operations and Administration 

  • Manage the administrative operations of Ulula (including as a remote entity) – coordinating correspondence with 3rd party organizations, as well as internal company remote operations
  • Engage with and manage liaisons with 3rd-party vendors to execute on Ulula obligations and resolve issues
  • Support the procurement and implementation of legal guidance for Ulula relating to employee management
  • Collaborate with the Programs Department and other teams to support billings and receivables

Human Resource Strategy and Administration

  • Contribute to the business strategy by helping the business leadership identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviours and processes
  • Lead and ensure the successful execution of HR programs and services across the organization
  • Manage the recruitment process and engage with relevant parties to successfully hire and onboard new talent globally, to ensure a successful setup and role uptake experience
  • Provide coaching to managers and employees on key areas such as: Talent Review, Performance
  • Management, recruitment, terminations, diversity and inclusion, compensation, employee development, employment equity, mobility, change management, team effectiveness
  • Manage the development and implementation of Ulula policies, processes and practices. Help to craft and establish policies and practices to ensure effective operation of the business
  • Identify/create and implement employee engagement initiatives to improve culture and retention of key talent
  • Develop and execute on training and staff professional development, and participate in cross functional initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and reporting regulations affecting HR
  • Maintain, update and communicate Ulula HR policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook and Health & Safety Policy
  • Maintain employee records and coordinate periodic reporting on HR metrics

Your preferred profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in business administration, human resources or other related field
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in HR role or operations management, developing and implementing strategic projects, preferably in a startup
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Employment Standards Act and any other applicable legislation
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Results oriented with an ability to simplify complex information
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
