Telecom Consultant

About the Role

We are searching for an experienced part-time Telecom Consultant to join our project in Nairobi, Kenya.  The initial assignment will be for 15 working days until 30 September 2022 with potential for additional consulting work. 

The successful candidate will be assisting in the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of local specialized infrastructure. In this role, you will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills. 

What you’ll do:
  • Setup the Internet connection modem to communicate with the local infrastructure.
  • Recharge/ troubleshoot connectivity issues on the mobile lines
  • Setup the equipment’s networks
  • Download logs and help with troubleshooting
  • Setup VoIP accounts and related advanced options 
  • Investigate the local market for options
  • Perform necessary tasks to obtain required services for local providers
 Your preferred profile:
  • Knowledge of Internet business package options and delivery methods (4G, DSL, fiber, etc).
  • Basis networking (modem/router IP addressing, DNS, port forwarding, etc).
  • Basic VoIP knowledge (sip accounts, ports, numbers, etc).
  • Basic Mobile network knowledge (distinguish between operators, number format, USSD, signal levels, etc).
  • Ability to interact with local customer service providers and efficiently explain the problem
  • Basic network component identification (cat5/6 cable, straight, cross, fiber cables, mobile antennas, etc).
