Ulula and EcoVadis partner to embed direct worker feedback into sustainability ratings to strengthen workplace labor and human rights in global supply chains

Today, EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted business sustainability ratings provider, and Ulula, a worker engagement technology solution, announce a strategic partnership that will provide mutual clients the option to add Ulula worker voice insights into the labor, social and human rights indicators of the EcoVadis ratings of their suppliers.

Ulula and EcoVadis have developed a worker survey that buyers and suppliers can include as part of the EcoVadis assessment and rating process. Direct worker feedback collected by Ulula helps enrich the EcoVadis Scorecard and is fully aligned with EcoVadis sustainability rating methodology on labor and human rights. Key performance indicators include working conditions, social dialogue, harassment and discrimination, health and safety, and child and forced labor. The Ulula worker engagement technology also strengthens management systems to help suppliers increase worker well-being and increase retention.

“EcoVadis is constantly searching for trustworthy data sources to validate the actions and results of the businesses we rate. By partnering with Ulula to design a worker voice survey that is compatible with the EcoVadis rating methodology, we hope to offer our mutual customers more actionable insights on labor and human rights challenges of their trading partners” explains Pierre-Francois Thaler, EcoVadis Co-CEO.

The complementary solutions have been deployed with several manufacturing suppliers in China and the US. Suppliers onboard their workers through a secure platform and conduct a promotional campaign onsite so that workers are made aware of the anonymous feedback channels available for participation. The surveys are configured in multiple languages, online and offline (e.g., toll-free phone line) to ensure greatest accessibility and inclusivity.

The end result raises the bar on industry sustainability standards and how worker feedback and data can enhance existing reporting structures to help brands prioritize and identify supplier needs, risks, and areas of improvement. With global coverage in over 100 countries, Ulula’s multi-channel and multilingual capability can help EcoVadis’ Enterprise clients strengthen their sustainability reporting through worker data and insights.

Antoine Heuty, Ulula’s CEO, says: “We have been working with the EcoVadis team to develop a simple and scalable way to get worker feedback into the EcoVadis rating methodology. We are excited to combine our analytics with the leading business sustainability ratings provider to help improve labor conditions in global supply chains.”

Companies and brands interested in incorporating Ulula’s worker verification tools into the EcoVadis sustainable procurement program are encouraged to join

Ulula CEO Antoine Huerty and EcoVadis Global Alliances Director Daniel Perry, on Mar 4, 2020 11:00 AM in Eastern Time (US and Canada) for their webinar, “Partnership to Strengthen Labor and Human Rights Sustainability Ratings Introducing the Ulula – EcoVadis partnership”.
